Ballad singer Dellie Norton lived in the small mountain community of Sodom, North Carolina. She sang the old English and Scottish ballads that had been passed down through her family for several hundred years. Dellie had a 3rd grade formal education but a Ph.D. in common sense. Very intelligent and wise, Dellie Norton taught me not only the old songs and ways but something about how to live. Her philosophy was simple. She said, "I love everybody and everybody loves me."
